Join us on 21st February 10.30-1PM at The OutHouse (alongside our Saturday Social) for a creative workshop exploring LGBTQ+ histories through the art of zine-making! Zines are often small, handmade and self-published booklets that can focus on any topic or special interest, created using collage, drawings, photographs – anything that inspires you!
Funded by the Social History Society and led by Kate Mahoney from Healthwatch Essex and Alix Green & Sam Woodward from the University of Essex, Kate will introduce the history and art of zine-making before diving into the workshop.
We’ll provide a selection of materials from The OutHouse’s archive that trace the 45 years of the organisation’s history including pictures, magazine snippets and cartoons. Please also bring your own materials too – notes, drawings, magazines, poems – anything you’d like to include in your zine! All other materials (and snacks!) will be provided.
