July’s film, in collaboration with Colchester Thunder, is The People’s Joker.
In Gotham City, where comedy has been outlawed, Joker the Harlequin, a painfully unfunny aspiring clown, grapples with her gender identity while attempting to join the city’s sole comedy program.
Soon, Joker the Harlequin is on a collision course with the devious caped crusader controlling Gotham.
Part of the Queer Film Social, this screening is one of a series of bi-monthly film events from Firstsite and The OutHouse, created in partnership with local LGBTQIA+ organisations.
Open to everyone, the programme celebrates queer visibility in cinema through thought-provoking films that explore a wide range of LGBTQIA+ stories and experiences.
After the screening, attendees are invited to stay for an optional social gathering to share perspectives, meet others and continue the conversation in a welcoming and inclusive space.
